How to apply

We hope the following points provide the necessary information to help make the Admissions process as simple as possible.

There are four stages to our Admissions Process:

  1. Registration and Registration Fee
  2. Offer (this includes an initial assessment for children entering Yr1 to Yr6)
  3. Acceptance and Deposit Payment

Most of Staines Prep’s students enter the school at age 3 (Sunflowers Nursery), age 5 (Reception) and age 7 (Year Three). All children entering Year 1 through to Year 6 will sit an initial assessment. This will consist of an interview, a reasoning test and a report from the child’s current school.

Individual tours can be arranged through the Admissions Office.

It is essential that the Admissions Office is kept up to date with any change of address, guardianship or preparatory school. Staines Prep cannot accept responsibility for correspondence which goes astray.

How to Apply

  1. Request a Prospectus or view online
  2. Come and Visit – choose either an Open Day or an individual visit at a time to suit you.
  3. Register – complete the Registration Form and return with a non-refundable Registration Fee of £60 either by cash, cheque or online banking. Should you be registered for our Sunflowers Nursery then please also complete our Sunflowers Nursery Timing Session Sheet.
  4. Assessment – Pupils wishing to join SPS after the Reception Year will be assessed to ensure they are placed in an appropriate class upon entry. It should be noted that in Years 4 - 6, where the children are streamed, places may not be available in all classes. Where necessary, the results of the assessments are discussed with parents. Any place offered will be subject to receiving a satisfactory report from the child's current school.
  5. Offer - As the School has a non-selective entrance policy, places will be offered following receipt of the Registration Form and a visit to the School by parent and child. If this is more than two terms prior to entry the place will be offered conditional on a further visit by parent and child approximately six months prior to the child’s entry date.
  6. Acceptance – Accept the place by reading our Terms & Conditions and return the Acceptance Form and a Parental Consent Form. Both these forms need to be completed and returned along with a £750 Deposit. The acceptance of this Deposit by the School guarantees that a place will be available subject to assessment. The Deposit will be returned at the end of Year 6 once the child has completed their education at Staines Preparatory School or earlier, on the condition a full term’s notice has been received as per the school’s Terms and Conditions. If a place is not taken up then the Deposit will not be refunded.
